Manager/SupervisorJOB SUMMARYPerforms MRI examinations on patients
based on department procedures and under direction ofdepartment
Section Chief and Manager. The position will require a significant
degree ofjudgment in the performance of assigned duties. The intent
of this job description is to provide asummary of the major duties
and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered
as adetailed description of all the work requirements that may be
inherent in the position.WORK PERFORMEDJOB DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Responsible for the
successful technical continuity of care for patients receiving MRI
studies.2. Communicates to radiologists clinical observations made
during MRI examination. Presentsclinical history as recorded on
appropriate documentation to radiologist.3. Demonstrates competency
in venipuncture skill for patients requiring contrast
administrationduring MRI studies.4. Demonstrates competency in the
knowledge of the RIS/HIS modules appropriate to their
jobresponsibilities.5. Assists in gathering, recording data and
serving as committee member for Radiology
QualityAssurance/Performance Improvement program.6. Accurately
adheres to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is
availableresulting in excellent continuity of care for patients.7.
Maintains responsibility for own professional development through
active participation ininservices and/or continuing education
programs.8. Provides educational information to the patient
regarding their examination.9. Accountable for quality of digital
images sent to PACS. Verify correct patient is selectedfrom
worklist, ensures accuracy of Medical Record information prior to

patient safety checklist prior to patient's study.11. Annual peer
review of images meets department standards.12. Responsible for the
success of the department to achieve Press Ganey goal. Every
patientshould receive patient education and your personalized
business card. Apology cards shouldbe sent or given to all patients
when we do not meet their expectations.13. Maintains
confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity
as well as theproper release of information.14. Complies with
Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee,
patient andenvironmental safety and follows appropriate reporting
requirements.15. Demonstrates/models the Network's Service
Excellence Standards of Performance ininteractions with all
customers (internal and external).16. Demonstrates Performance
Improvement in the following areas as appropriate:
ClinicalCare/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational
System/Process, and Safety.17. Demonstrates financial
responsibility and accountability through the effective and
efficientuse of resources in daily procedures, processes and
practices.18. Complies with Network and departmental policies
regarding attendance and dress code.19. Demonstrates competency in
the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth
anddevelopment and communication appropriate to the age of the
patient treated.OTHER FUNCTIONS:1. Assures that the quality control
is completed on equipment.2. Assists with some secretarial duties
and documentation required pertaining to MRI services.3. Maintains
necessary inventory of supplies needed to perform MRI exams.
Maintainsreadiness and cleanliness of equipment and exam room.4.
Assists in lifting and transporting patients.5. Care for patient's
needs while in the department.6. Other related duties as
assigned.PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:Frequent use of fingers
and hands to operate equipment and chart information. Sitting for
up to 5hours in 50 minute increments. Standing and walking for up
to 3 hours in 15 minute increments.Pushing, pulling and lifting of
patients up to 400 pounds with assistance. Occasional
stooping,lifting and raising arms above shoulder level. Lifting and
moving of objects of up to 30 pounds.Hearing as it relates to
normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to normal vision. Must
not haveany metal implants or pacemaker, which would be a
contraindication to work around the MRImagnet.POTENTIAL ON-THE-JOB
RISKS:1. Normal patient care environment with little exposure to
excessive dust and temperature.2. Normal patient care environment
with frequent exposure to excessive noise.3. Continuous exposure to
infection and/or contagious diseases when working with
patients(risk minimized by adherence to universal precautions).4.
Potential risk for back injury due to lifting (risk minimized using
body mechanics techniquesaccording to the guidelines and inservices
established by the Hospital Safety Officer).5. Minimal exposure to
hazardous chemicals (risk minimized by adherence to
Right-to-KnowLaws).6. Frequent exposure to electrical equipment
(risk minimized by adherence to electrical safetyprocedures).7.
Continuous exposure to strong magnetic field when working with
patients (risk minimized bymagnetic safety instructions program).8.
Frequent exposure to latex products.9. Exposure to needle sticks
(risk minimized to adherence to safety procedures).10. Employees
who work in patient care areas where they may have potential
exposure topatients with suspected or proven tuberculosis (TB) must
have the ability to wear a particulaterespirator and be fit-tested
in compliance with the current recommendations from the
CDC(enforced by OSHA) or must provide physician documentation as to
the inability to wear aparticulate respirator.SPECIFIC PROTECTIVE
EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE: Impervious gowns, gloves, shoecovers, mask,
cap, Needleless system, Patient transfer board.MOST COMPLEX DUTY:
Performing MRI studies efficiently and communicates well
withpatients. Effectively respond to contrast reactions.SUPERVISION
(RECEIVED BY AND/OR GIVEN TO): Supervised
byManager/Supervisor.COMMUNICATIONS: Must be able to communicate
effectively with department staff,hospital staff, radiologists,
physicians, patients and family members.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Needs to exhibit excellent interpersonal skills. Ability towork
independently with minimal clinical
supervision.QUALIFICATIONS)(MINIMUM)EDUCATION: Graduate from an
ARRT recognized education program, or ARRT or ARMRITregistered, or
ARRT or ARMRIT registry eligible. NJ staff must be registered
before date ofhire. Advanced MRI registry required within 1 year of
hire.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 2 years experience as a staff
technologist preferred. 1-yearexperience as an MRI technologist
preferred. History of computer usage experience required.Current
CPR certification required before completion of orientation.WORK
SCHEDULE: Day shift with middle shift, night shift, weekends and
holidays asrequired based on the needs of the department. On Call
