Manufacturing Cost Estimator - $50 Million Manufacturing Company - Allentown, PAWe are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Cost Estimator to be a bridge between sales and engineering/production to evaluate cost estimates through manufacturing methods within the company's capabilities, estimating production times, tooling, methods, materials, labor, outside sourcing and overhead to establish pricing for customers/products. Monday - Friday.Job Description Summary:
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing cost estimating processes.
Provide cost estimates from customer part drawings.
Determine manufacturing methods within company capabilities.
Estimate production times, tooling, operation routings, and outside processing.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to Director of Global Sales and Marketing.
Essential Functions:
Estimate production process within company capabilities, seek outside vendors when needed.
Maintain control over estimating documents.
Provide management information for cost estimating.
Responsibilities/Performance Criteria:
Develop, evaluate, and improve cost estimating methods.
Achieve improvements in cost estimating process.
Consult Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, and customers on designs and specifications.
Typical estimates within 5-10% of actual production rates.
Maintain document control system, including electronic files.
Easily retrievable documents.
Specify and recommend changes to enhance cost estimating process.
Maintain goals for turnaround and update CE baseline bi-annually.
Consult vendors to estimate tooling, material, outside process costs, and lead times.
Accurate supplier cost estimates meeting goals.
Maintain quote response within 24-48 hours of receipt, communicate with front/back team.
Maintain quote log.
Requirements:
Prefer experience in machine shop using CNC lathes, mills, EDM, grinding, etc.
Mental abilities for math and software (word processing, spreadsheets).
Working Conditions:
Mostly in controlled temperature office.
Extended hours during specific estimate deadlines.
Attendance at scheduled meetings outside normal hours.
