The Cytotechnologist (CT) performs highly complex laboratory
testing. Screens gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for
premalignant, malignant, and inflammatory changes. Assumes
responsibility for teaching/training of students and/or new
employees, problem-solving and quality control. Performs special
assignments as delegated.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting up to 7 hours per day - 2 hour increments. Standing up to 3
hours per day - 1 hour increments. - Walking - up to 2 hours per
day - short increments. - Frequently uses fingers to screen slides
and enter results in the computer. - Continuous use of hands while
screening microscopic slides, adjusting and focusing the
microscope. - Rarely lifts boxes, slides files or slides folders up
to 25 pounds. - Rarely carries objects up to 25 pounds. - Rarely
bends/stoops or crouches. - Rarely reaches above shoulder level. -
Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates
to general far/near/color and peripheral vision and depth
perception.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from an approved Cytotechnology program. -ASCP registered
or eligible.
