Tech is responsible for providing patient care pre, peri and
post-invasive cardiac procedures under the direct supervision of an
Electrophysiology Lab RN. He/she must abide by the rules and
regulations of St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network and the
regulations set forth by the National Radiation Commission
pertaining to radiation safety. He/she is responsible for remaining
current in practice and knowledgeable in invasive cardiology
technology.The intent of this job description is to provide a
summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position
and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the
work requirements that may be inherent in the position.JOB DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES--
- Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the
Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of
information.--
- Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding
issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows
appropriate reporting requirements--
- Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards
of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and
external).--
- Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as
appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement,
Operational System/Process, and Safety.--
- Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability
through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily
procedures, processes and practices.--
- Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding
attendance and dress code.--
- Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment,
knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate
to the age of the patient treated.
- Delivers professional care to patients under direct supervision
of Cardiac Cath Lab / EP RN.--
- Participates in the performance of various diagnostic and
therapeutic procedures in the EP Lab and other departments relating
to procedures performed in the EP Lab.--
- Provides accurate documentation of care provided in accordance
with Hospital and Cardiac Cath Lab /EP Lab polices and
procedures.--
- Demonstrates an understanding of specific medications utilized
in the EP Lab and comprehends indications for usage.--
- Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and responds
appropriately to fluctuation of parameters.--
- Demonstrates proficiency in the interpretation of EKG rhythms
and dysrhythmias.--
- Demonstrates comprehension of function of pacemakers and
implantable cardiovertor/defibrillators (ICD).--
- Demonstrates competency in the interrogation of various
devices, i.e. pacemakers and ICD's and functions independently in
performing ICD checks.--
- Demonstrates proficiency in maintaining hemostasis of access
sites.--
- Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of all equipment
utilized in the EP Lab.--
- Demonstrates comprehension of radiation principles and utilizes
xray equipment appropriately.--
- Demonstrates competency in the use / operation of all equipment
utilized for EP proceduresOTHER FUNCTIONS:--1. Provides
preventative maintenance and trouble-shooting techniques for
equipment in the EP Lab.--2. Assumes responsibilities for the daily
operation of the EP Lab.--3. Acts as a resource person for other
members of the health care team.--4. Serves on various Departmental
and Hospital committees.--5. Other related duties as
assigned.PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:--Standing for up to 8
hours per day in 4 hour increments while wearing up to 20 lbs. of
lead protective equipment.--Sitting for up to 8 hours per day in 4
hour increments while wearing up to 20 lbs. of lead protective
equipment.--Walking for up to 6 hours per day in 30 minute
increments.--Continuous use of fingers and hands including;
frequent twisting and turning, fingering and handling and
occasional firm grasping.--Frequent use of upper extremities.--Must
be able to apply digital pressure to specific area utilizing
fingers, hands and upper extremities for up to 40 minutes without
variation of pressure applied.--Occasional working with arms above
head and occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. above head.--Rarely
lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.--Frequent pushing and pulling up
to 350 lbs.--Occasional stooping, bending or crouching.--Hearing as
it relates to normal conversation, as well as high and low
frequency.--Seeing as it relates to general vision, near and far
vision, color and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception
and visual monotony.--Touching as it relates to feeling, as in
condition of skin and presence of pulses.--MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:Registered Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist or
Registered Radiology Technologist or attendance of --a program
related to procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab with
successful completion of RCIS exam within 1 yr of eligibility.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Previous Cath Lab experience preferred.ACLS
within 1 yr of hire dateBLS
