Performs ultrasound patient examinations on patients based on
procedures and under the directions of a perinatologist. The
position requires a significant degree of judgement in the
performance of assigned duties.
The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the successful technical continuity care for
patients during ultrasound procedure.
Communicates to perinatologist clinical observations made during

PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent use of fingers and hands in operating equipment and for
paperwork. Standing and walking for up to 7 hours per day in
60-minute increments. Sitting for up to 1 hour per day in 15-minute
increments. Pushing, pulling and lifting patients and litters up to
300 pounds with assistance. Lifting and moving objects up to 40
pounds. Must be able to do frequent bends, stoops and crouches.
Must be able to reach above shoulder level. Must be able to hear
and see as it relates to normal hearing and vision.
POTENTIAL ON-THE-JOB RISKS:

communicating with patients, possesses knowledge necessary to
operate and maintain all required imaging equipment.
SUPERVISION (RECEIVED BY AND/OR GIVEN TO): Maternal Fetal
Medicine physician and Maternal Fetal Medicine Manager
COMMUNICATIONS: Must be able to communicate effectively with
department staff, hospital staff, Radiologists, staff physicians,
patients and family members.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess the ability to work
independently with minimal supervision. Needs to exhibit critical
thinking skills, problem solving ability and interpersonal
High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an approved
Radiology Technology Program and/or Ultrasound Program. RDMS
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year experience in obstetrical ultrasound.
Current CPR certification required. Knowledge of computer basics a

needs of the department.
