Job Title: Radiation Oncology Cancer Administrator

Department: Radiation Oncology Cancer Administrator

Summary: In Collaboration with Grand View Health System and UPHS, The Cancer Network Administrator provides strategic operational leadership and direction regarding all administrative, financial, regulatory, quality, human resources, patient/employee satisfaction, and clinical aspects for the following scope:

Penn Medicine and GVH Radiation Oncology:

Operational oversight of Penn Medicine Radiation Oncology physicians and staff.

Direct management of Penn Medicine CPUP and GVH in radiation oncology.

Leading project management efforts to coordinate, track progress, and ensure the success of new and existing initiatives.

Support management of contracts, inclusive of negotiation of amendments and management of budget.

Collaborate with Associate Director of Operations and Director of Technical Operations to develop capital budget requests to all entities.

Monitor and respond to financial reporting (and key indicators) available through Penn Medicine and GVH.

Supporting Employee Relations through conducting performance assessments and managing disciplinary processes according to the employing entities' policies Office of Oncology Information.

Operational oversight of the GVH nurse navigation program including the day-to-day management of the nurse navigation staff and ensuring patients have efficient and effective access to nurse navigation and clinical coordination.

Operational oversight of the GVH Social Work team ensuring patients have efficient and effective access to social work services.

Operational oversight of supportive oncology services such as tumor registry and financial navigation.

Evaluate and provide recommendations for additional supportive services for oncology patients and the cancer center.

Partners with physician leadership in the strategic direction and program development of the Grandview Cancer program.

In collaboration with the Penn Cancer Network, the Administrator partners with physician and administrative leadership in the successful achievement of CoC and NAPBC accreditation standards.

Cancer Center Leadership: Oversee access to GVH multidisciplinary services, relevant diagnostics as well as treatment and support services (i.e. imaging, pathology and lab, surgical and medical oncology, social work, palliative care, and financial counseling).

Oversight of the day-to-day operations of the GVH cancer center.

Establish and ensure adherence to policies and procedures of the cancer center and hospital.

Participate in (and on occasion lead) various GVH leadership meetings and committees established by the hospital.

Development of operational budget as well as variance assessment and resource allocation.

Chair Weekly GVH Tumor Board Meetings Penn Cancer Network (PCN).

Partners with the PCN on the strategic direction and vision of the GVH Cancer Center.

Oversees the Vision and goalsetting process for GVH cancer center as well as market evaluation and competitive positioning::

Oversees administration of Penn Medicine Cancer Network and supports alignment opportunities with the Penn Medicine Cancer System and Abramson Cancer Center.

Engage in community outreach efforts to raise awareness of programs and support partnerships for prevention and early detection.

Partners with the PCN in developing collaborative outreach and marketing activities for providers, patients, and the general community.

Partners with the PCN, PCN Practice Affiliates, and other physician practices in the facilitation and coordination of a seamless cancer program.

Ensure that patient access to services is efficient across employed and independent providers. Foster participation in multidisciplinary cancer committees.

Other Duties: Support weekly radiation oncology billing processes.

Organize and support disease-specific program development such as the biweekly Nodule Boards.

Serve as IRB member and provide oversight for cancer registry.

This role ensures management of daily cancer center operations runs efficiently and effectively.

Penn Medicine and GVH Radiation Oncology.

Responsibilities:

Internal Relationships: Regularly meet with employees to improve communication and build productive relationships.

Continuously communicates to physicians and staff the importance of patient satisfaction, service excellence, quality of care, and financial performance.

Works with entity leadership and clinical leadership to develop programs, services, or initiatives to anticipate future customer needs, build customer loyalty, and generate profitable growth.

Identifies, develops, and implements programs, activities, and events on behalf of the Penn Cancer Network, The Abramson Cancer Center, and other key stakeholders.

External Relationships: Personally spends time with staff, physicians, patients, and patient families to understand respective needs and expectations, build relationships, and gauge patient/customer satisfaction.

Develop positive relationships with facilities leadership, and construction/township personnel as needed.

Supports leadership in partnering with affiliates to develop mutually beneficial clinical, operational, and marketing programs.

Interfaces with relevant industry associations as a representative of the organization and to identify benchmarks.

Identifies and participates in development activities as appropriate.

Ensures the effective ownership, implementation, and accountability of Penn Cancer Network services.

Works collaboratively with oncology nursing leaders, physicians, and operations administrators in the Penn Cancer Network community as required to strengthen and sustain alignment of care delivery between the community cancer program and Penn Medicine.

Strategic Planning: Supports entity leadership team in developing and implementing strategic plan.

Participates in strategic planning efforts with Penn Cancer Network, Penn Medicine Radiation Oncology, and GVH to support program development and execute the plan for GVH.

Oversees Penn Cancer Network CME offerings and all other continuing education initiatives that are offered on campus or in the community.

Ensures and leads the alignment of disease site program development between Penn Medicine and all related programs at GVH, especially how it relates to multidisciplinary care coordination, outreach and education, referral pathways for advanced care, and participation in collaborative clinical research opportunities.

Change Management: Proactively develops change management strategy for major organizational or cancer center activities.

Identifies and facilitates agreement of major messages which are consistent regardless of audience, credible, and reflect entity/Penn Medicine core values.

Ensure appropriate follow-up of major issues --- Manage routine and crisis communications as they arise.

Works to ensure that Infusion and pharmacy Quality and Safety initiatives are successfully evaluated implemented and maintained at GVH.

Financial Management --- Accountable for cancer center financials including expense and revenue variances, AR indicators, etc.

Supports GVH/Penn operational and financial leadership in the development and monitoring of financial systems and processes.

Oversees planning and implementation of Penn Cancer Network-wide clinical research activities: Plans, schedules, and coordinates all clinical research meetings, workshops, and related events for the Penn Cancer Network's activities at GVH.

Directs cancer control and related research activities of the Penn Cancer Network.

Serves as the Liaison between Penn Medicine and GVH in coordinating survivorship and genetics programs.

General: Manage coverage in the cancer center to ensure adequate staffing.

Manage efficient usage and ordering of supplies.

Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.

Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor of Arts or Science in Nursing, Business, Hospital administration, Social Work or other related fields. (Required)

7+ years Relevant experience including at least 5 years of prior management experience in a healthcare setting. (Required)

Master of Arts or Science and 5+ years Relevant Oncology experience may be considered in lieu of total experience.
