Job Description:
The Bethlehem Area School District is the sixth largest school
district in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with an enrollment of
approximately 14,000 students from diverse cultures and/or

Under direction of the Director of Special Education, the School
Psychologist will utilize specialized knowledge of assessment,
learning, and interpersonal relationships to assist school
personnel to identify, enrich the experience and growth of all
children. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To evaluate
using a variety of assessments, and to interpret the intellectual,
social, emotional, behavioral, and academic development of school
age children 2. Chair, conduct, and participate in
Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Meeting as defined below:
- Special Education and Gifted evaluations
- Invite the appropriate staff to attend the MDT meeting; may
include: school psychologist, parent, principal, guidance
counselor, regular ed/special ed teacher, and any other personnel
that have provided input to the evaluation process.
- Present and discuss the evaluation procedures, interpretation
of results, compiled information, and utilizing multiple criteria,
to assist the team in determining eligibility for special education
services
- Does the student meet the definition of an educational
disability?
- Is the student in need of specially designed instruction
modifications to the curriculum to learn?
- To provide recommendations for specially designed instruction,
accommodations, and/or effective classroom management/behavioral
techniques 3. To prepare, finalize, and submit reports for
distribution within district, state, and federal timelines and
procedures. 4. To prepare, finalize, and submit psychological logs
for ACCESS billing per office procedures 5. To facilitate the
learning and adjustment of children through consultation,
coordination, counseling, and crisis management team. 6.
Participate and collaborate within building/district child find
procedures, which may include MTSS process, SAP process, etc. in
brainstorming and the implementation of strategies, recommend
community resources to address student s needs. 7. Participate in
the development and consultation of in-service programs for
district personnel and 8. To coordinate and implement short-term
special assignments as designed by Administrative 9. To respond
positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement 10. To
complete all required paperwork on the designated district system;
ie: special education, student information systems MARGINAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Communicates clearly, concisely, and
effectively, both orally and in writing, with the administrative
staff, professional and support staff, students, parents, and
community. 2. Performs other duties as assigned by Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a Bachelor s Degree from accredited college or
university with an emphasis in the appropriate field. Appropriate
Pennsylvania teaching credential.
- Possess a Master s Degree in School Psychology
- No minimum experience required PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time throughout the
workday
- Ability to stand and walk
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
- Ability to push, pull and move
- Bending and twisting of the body required
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 waist height SENSORY
ABILITIES:
- Visual acuity ability to see and read a computer screen and
printed matter without vision aids
- Auditory acuity ability to hear and understand speech at normal
levels and on the telephone WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Typical office environment
- Subject to inside environmental conditions TEMPERAMENT:
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented
- Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with
frequent interruptions
