The Chief Dental Officer oversees Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Dental Assistants, coordinates dental provider meetings and serves as mentor to other dental providers. Serves as the liaison between the dental programs and all other Star Community Health (SCH) programs. In addition, the Chief Dental Officer develops and monitors the goals and objectives of the continuous quality improvement plan.Please note the selected candidate and new hire will be an employee of Star Wellness and not St. Luke's University Health Network. Star Wellness, affiliated with St. Luke's University Health Network, is an organization comprised of community based clinics and sites providing healthcare services to our local populations. New hire(s) will be recruited and hired via St. Luke's University Health Network, but will transition to become a Star Wellness employee following the commencement of new hire onboarding.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers the full range of dental services including exams, preventive care, diagnosis, treatment, treatment plans and any other patient care activities related to oral care.
  • Builds an engaged dental team with a strong vision and purpose.
  • Oversees serves provided by Dentists and other clinical teammates, including clinical quality, patient experience, and performance.
  • Establishes and monitors performance standards to measure and assess clinical performance on an ongoing basis to ensure efficiency and consistency with achieving clinical outcomes.
  • Establishes and maintains documentation of clinical protocols, policies and procedures related to providing safe and effective care.
  • Maintains current knowledge of clinical and operational best practices. Models and mentors providers' application of these practices.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements for dental care.
  • Collaborates with administration, operations, and other teams to build scalable training for new and existing clinicians to ensure consistent clinical performance.
  • Provides dental in-service training to dental and other staff as appropriate.
  • Principates in marketing, education and recruitment activities as needed to build the SCH brand in the clinical community and with patients.
  • Represents SCH to dental societies and other community and civic groups.
  • Balances clinical and business needs and communicates in a way that helps build a strong, unified team across clinical, administration, operations, and other areas.
  • Works to develop infrastructure and training for providers within the organization to promote leadership growth.
  • Collaborates with schools and other organizations participating in the education and development of dental providers to facilitate recruitment.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership on overall strategy development and execution of short and long team planning.
    PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: No identified risks.
    EDUCATION:
    Graduate of a CODA accredited Dental School. Successful completion of an accredited Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD)or General Practice Residency (GPR) Program. Master's Degree in Public Health preferred. Current Dentist license in good standing
    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Five years of clinical dental experience. Two years of experience in a supervisory role. Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting preferred.Current knowledge of federal, state, local, and third-party regulations related to dental practice and provider credentialing.Current knowledge of dental clinical and operational best practices and understanding of payor mix.Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information.Skilled in leading and managing teams, including building strong clinical teams, and selecting, managing, and retaining clinical talent.Ability to oversee the administration of an AEGD Residency Program.
