Join Takeda as a Data Scientist, Pharmaceutical CMC Digitalization
where you will design, build, and deploy industry-leading smart
algorithms and predictive models. You will also be recognized as a
technical expert within own department and across division for
mathematical modeling and data science in support of Digital CMC
(Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) capability development. As
part of the Innovation & Technology Sciences team, you will report
to the Head, Technology Excellence.
How you will contribute: Recognized as a technical expert within
own department and across division for mathematical modeling and
data science in support of Digital CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing,
and Controls) capability development
Responsible for significant or sole technical leadership within
project or complex study
Provides theoretical/conceptual input to the design, development,
and execution of research assignments for strategic
cross-functional workstreams
Proactively identifies technical issues/challenges and proposes
potential resolutions.
Stays current on emerging technological trends and external
communities & consortia related to data science, data engineering,
computational process development, systems biology, and advanced
process control.
Designs, builds, and deploys industry-leading smart algorithms and
predictive models (empirical, first principle, and/or hybrid) to
support optimization of control loops, platform performance and CMC
workflows to advance pipeline programs and innovation
initiatives.
Understands and uses different Supervised and Unsupervised learning
techniques, their biases, how and when to apply them and which
methods are the best for a particular analysis.
Able to wrangle raw data sets into a format that can have advanced
methods applied against the resulting data.
Provides applied data science and advanced modeling support (e.g.,
AI/ML, statistical, chemometric) to multiple initiatives or project
teams
Participates in cross-functional workstreams and project teams to
provide technical support as a Subject Matter Expert in Digital CMC
and data science & modeling
Supports local and global initiatives which may include leading
initiatives or work streams
Understands project timelines and deliverables and
plans/coordinates project work accordingly with departmental,
functional and external stakeholders
Serves as a technical resource for Pharm Sci staff and leverage
expertise in Digital CMC as a functional resource/trainer.
Independently designs and executes experiments, and reports
results
Assists with development of project strategy and communicates
complex data/decisions within department and cross functionally as
necessary
Builds and maintains relationships with key vendors and assists
with technical aspects of vendor negotiations
Proactively analyses technical issues and coordinates potential
resolution with team members.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Data
Science, Statistics, Bio-Informatics, Mathematics, Chemometrics,
Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related pharmaceutical science
and 8+ years relevant industry experience
Masters degree in Data Science, Statistics, Bio-Informatics,
Mathematics, Chemometrics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or
related pharmaceutical science 6+ years relevant industry
experience
PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Bio-Informatics, Mathematics,
Chemometrics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related
pharmaceutical science and 0+ years relevant industry
experience
Understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) is
preferred
Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
May require approximately 5-10% travel.
