The Director of Development has specific responsibility for growing and managing a portfolio of major gift prospects ($10,000+) for St. Luke's University Health Network that will support the ongoing needs of the organization. Additionally, the Director will assume other responsibilities that will advance the overall goals and objectives of the Network Development Department.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with SLUHN leadership to plan and implement fundraising strategies that focus on individual giving and direct donor contact to increase charitable giving for various service lines and network entities.
  • Manage a portfolio of 50 active opportunities in various stages of cultivation and solicitation. Approximately 50% of active opportunities will be at $10K+ ( 25) and 10% of those will be at the $100K+ level ( 3).
  • Track and record all meaningful actions in RE: NXT. Complete written strategies for leading prospects. Follow our stages and gates moves management process and meet assigned deadlines for moves management.
  • Complete 450 high value actions per year (face to face meetings/phone calls) with assigned prospects, including 24 qualified major gift solicitations per year and 12+ closed gifts at $10k+ per year, documenting each contact in the Raiser's Edge Database. Raise 3 x 5 times annual salary in charitable support.
  • Provide staff support to physician champions, development and campaign committees and other fundraising volunteers.
  • Assist with written proposals and grant requests, as needed, to support fundraising initiatives related to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with the identification of planned giving candidates; provide support to prepare proposals and agreements for all planned gifts.
  • Manage stewardship for assigned opportunities and donors.
  • Provide support to the special events team and others to coordinate special fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events.
  • Participate in the planning, development and implementation of comprehensive capital campaigns to secure financial resources necessary for annual operating and capital needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrate/model the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
    OTHER FUNCTIONS:
    • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Development.
    • Promote a culture of philanthropy both internally and externally to ensure continued fundraising success.

      PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
      Sitting for up to eight hours per day, up to two hours at a time. Walking for up to one hour per day, up to 15 minutes at a time. Involves frequent travel between campuses and within the region. Involves frequent fingering, firm grasping, handling and twisting and turning. Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 25 pounds. Occasional stooping, bending and reaching above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, color vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony.
      EDUCATION:
      BA or BS required. Advanced degree preferred.
      TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
      +3 years of experience in fundraising (particularly major gifts) for a not-for-profit, preferably health related. Ability to work as part of the Network Development Team to identify and solicit potential major donors, as well as continuously steward existing donors. AFP or AHP certification is a plus.
