(NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Design Engineer at its Bethlehem, PA facility. Gardner products operate on all seven continents as a technology leader, and have a growing role in the developing global Energy Economy.Responsibilities for this position include:Liquid Hydrogen / Stationary Tank / Semi Trailer experienceMechanical design and analysis of very low temperature systems (liquid helium, liquid hydrogen)Thermal and structural design components of cryogenic systemsTesting and approval of cryogenic componentsDesign and analysis of composite componentsManufacturing support of cryogenic systemsFailure analysis of cryogenic systemsPressure vessel design and analysisCryogenic Piping Design and analysisDevelop and test purchase specificationsMinimum Qualifications:BS Mechanical Engineering MS in Engineering from MS in Mechanical engineering within 6 months with additional graduate courses in design, mechanics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer is a plus.Excellent physical understanding of analytical methods and resultsAbility to analyze and design mechanical productsExperience with ASME Section VIII Div 1, Div 2, and/or Section XII codesExperience with ASME B31.3 Piping CodeCryogenic design experience a plusSelf-motivated, hands on type of personalityFlexibility in handling challenging multi-tasking workloadSoftware skills with proficiency in modeling in finite element analysis codesAbility to design for manufactureAbility to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) experience is preferredDesired Qualifications:MS in Mechanical engineering within 6 monthsLeadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skillsCapability to generate innovative conceptsInterest in growing in design and analysis fieldHigh level of mechanical aptitudeIntegrity is a vital part of the Air Product's culture and employees are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards and communicate across all channels with respect and honesty.
